Employment Law teleconference, 9-10 a.m. July 29
Registration is open for a July 29 teleconference on Employment Law with Mike Killeen of Davis Wright Tremaine, Seattle. This is a prime opportunity to get your employment and other HR questions answered. No topic is too large or too small. The registration form includes an opportunity for registrants to write in specific questions or topics for Killeen to address during the call. The teleconference is a benefit of WNPA membership.

July 16 Media Ethics Teleconference for Editors. Doug Underwood of the University of Washington presented a teleconference on media ethics for editors, with more than 20 in attendance. For a detailed agenda, click here.

July 22 Media Law Training. Sea Beez, Washington Newspaper Publishers Association and The Seattle Times co-sponsored a legal seminar with Michele Earl-Hubbard of Allied Law Group, Seattle. The seminar drew about 30 participants. It provided an introduction (or refresher course) on media law with an emphasis on how to avoid libel and defamation lawsuits, and was relevant to print media, TV, and radio news. Lunch was catered by Salima, which specializes in Southeast Asian Halal cuisine.

Advertising and marketing expert Lori Maxim, a vice president at Sound Publishing Inc., provided an hour-long Webinar on Seven Steps to Converting Other Media.
May 13 Teleconference. John Greenland, Director of Sales & Marketing for New Media, Sound Publishing Inc., presented an information-filled hour on Internet Sales for Ad Managers: How to get into the game.
